60s Peach Applique Dress
Dress to impress in this peachy example of late 50s, early 60s feminity. The overlay bodice has nylon flowers appliqued in place with contrasting green and pink embroidery. Overlay section buttons down back with self-fabric covered buttons. Slim fitting sheath has metal zipper back closure. Both are joined at shoulders and neck. Measures: B = 36", W = 28", H = 36", dress length (shoulder to hem) = 41", sleeve length = 5", length of overlay (shoulder to bottom edge) = 13". No maker's label but a size label says "14", which means vintage sized 14 (check the measurements first) as this means in today's sizes 8 or 10. Linen and cotton blend which can be handwashed gently. Good quality.

Dotted Swiss
Turquoise with tiny little white cotton dots (dots do not show well in photo) and white lace trim at neckline. This sleeveless cotton frock was handmade with a careful touch. Hem, neck and arm facings are all hand sewn flat, a rare finish in today's machine run world. Back metal zipper closure. Measures: B = 38", W = 34", H = 40", front length (shoulder to hem) = 39" (+ 2" hem). This slimming style was made for an ample figured gal which doesn't show well on Stella, our skinny mannequin. ‘60s Bobbie Brooks Fancy Dress
Doozie of a dress from prim and proper sixties, before all the hippie shenanigans. Top is black velvet. Bottom is crazy swirling stitches on a yellow satin taffeta. Metal zipper on left size measures 12”. And there’s a pocket on the right side! Perfect for your tissue or compact. Too bad modern party dresses don’t have pockets. It was hard to measure this because there are no shoulder seams. Also, the measure from the back neck to waist is probably a bit shorter than 16”. Measures: bust=36”; waist=28”; hips=free; across back=approximately 14”; top of sleeve to waist=approximately 16”; waist to hem=30”; sleeves=7.5”. Excellent condition with two spots of minor discoloration on the skirt that are noticeable only when you’re looking for them.

Boat-Necked '60s Dress
Dark navy (almost black) dress in an interesting nubby fabric that looks be heavy silk with embroidered design overall. Handmade, and although the workmanship is fine, the seamstress didn't do a perfect job cutting the dress out, which is critical to having the pattern fall correctly. Still, the dress is striking, and it's close to perfect. Measures B=32-34"; W=24"; H=34-36"; across back=15"; length from shoulder to waist=15.5"; length from waist to hem=22.5". Metal side zipper measures 13" and is a little funky but it's okay if you're careful with it.

Fur-Trimmed Coat
Fur-Trimmed Coat
Don’t you feel a little better wearing OLD fur? Pale gray coat from the late 1960s features lush black fur collar and trim (we don’t know the variety, sorry, but it is very soft and real for sure). Gored panels. Side pockets. Measures: back length from neck=41” including 4” fur trim; sleeves=21”; fullness at hem=56”; bust=up to 38”; across back=15.5”. Excellent condition: the lining is a tiny bit tattered but unstained; the coat is a bit dirty; the fur needs tacked down again in spots, although if you were to have it cleaned, the fur would come off for that and then need reattached anyway. A surcharge for shipping has been added to the price of this heavy item.

Marchesa di Gresy Tan Knit
The striped trim on the cuffs, around the collar and down the front are the news here. Beautiful, heavy knit is 100% wool. Labeled " Made in Italy. Marchesa di Gresy design only at I. Magnin & Co." It was classy in its day, sometime in the early '60s. Measures: B = 38"; back length collar to hem = 23"; across back can't be measured accurately because of style; sleeve length = 16" including 2.5" cuff that could be a little wider or much narrower depending on how you roll it. Fair condition. There are a few holes that have been fairly skillfully mended but, unfortunately, they are on the collar. Needs dry cleaning.

Geometric Jacket
Because the label has been cut out of this jacket, ala Loemann's, we think it was made by a designer. The part of the label that's left says, " Made in U.S.A. of Fabric from Italy." And scrumptious fabric it is: beautiful rich gray wool with gold stripes and gold blocks. The back pattern perfectly mirrors the front. Boxy, collarless styling reminscent of the '60s, but we think this is from the '80s. Invisible slit pockets in the lower front. Measures: B = 40-42"; back length collar to hem = about 23"; across back = 16.5"; sleeve length = 24". Excellent condition. From the looks of the lining, it has never been worn.

Flowers Masquerade as Cosmos
Squinting at this tie leads you right out into space, although instead of black holes, here you find brown holes. Actually, these are brown flowers. Who decided flowers should have brown petals? Ted Lapidus of Paris, that’s who. A big name not to be argued with. There are also tiny orange butterflies adorning the brown flowers and some of the orange flowers. there are tiny white daisy-like flowers in the middles of the brown petals. Don’t forget the brown leaves. Overall, brown on brown with a little white and orange. Remarkably unique and strangely fetching tie. Very skinny: just under 3” at its widest. 55.75” overall. Likely ‘60s. Silk. Excellent condition.
